Week 1: Laying the foundation (35 weeks till race day)

This past week, I decided to finally get off my butt. Originally, I was thinking I'd wait until after my birthday in February to start regularly training, but all the gravy-laden, chocolate-filled, fat-cracklin' deliciousness of the holidays is starting to weigh me down. Plus, I've been feeling a little bummed that all the fitness I had built up this past summer from the Door County Tri has totally gone down the pooper since I had to take a long break from running (plantar fasciitis--ouch!). Excuses no more! I can still bike and I can still swim, so here I go.

For the next few weeks, I'm just going to try to get into a regular routine of early morning (ughhh) swims and sessions on my bike trainer (basically it just turns my bike into a stationary bike I can ride indoors. Boring, but effective).
